The composition includes detailed topographical features, major cities, and a scale in the upper left corner. The technical nature is a hand-coloured copper engraving. It was published in Paris by J.P. Delaval and authored by Mentelle and P.G. Chanlaire. Edme Mentelle was a prominent French geographer and historian who held several prestigious positions, including professor at the École Normale and member of the Institut de France.
