Beskrivning
"Apparition d’Henri IV à Louis XVI ou la Vérité découverte". This work depicts an allegorical scene featuring Louis XVI seated in a study being visited by the ghost of Henry IV. The spirit of the former king gestures toward a figure of Truth descending from the clouds, accompanied by putti who carry scrolls representing constitutional and national reforms. This etching and engraving was published in Paris by Texier in 1790. The composition serves as a political allegory from the early years of the French Revolution, suggesting a link between the constitutional monarchy of the present and the popular legacy of Henry IV.
