Bilder Ottomar Elliger the Younger (1666–1735) – Set of 2: Biblical Scenes of Christ – Engraving (1700)
Beskrivning
"Heilung am Teich Bethesda" and "Speisung der Fünftausend" depict two significant miracles from the New Testament. The upper scene shows Christ healing the paralytic at the Pool of Bethesda against a classical architectural backdrop, while the lower scene illustrates the multiplication of the loaves and fishes for a vast multitude in a hilly landscape. These engravings are from the work Historiae Celebriores Veteris vel Novi Testamenti Iconibus Representatae, published by Christoph Weigel in Nuremberg. The compositions are typical of the Dutch late Baroque style, emphasizing dramatic gestures and grand settings.
