Within the city walls, the plate identifies major structures and public spaces, including the central market square, the Gothic church of St. Mary Magdalene, and various orchards and gardens. A numbered legend in the lower left corner provides a key to the principal civic buildings and gates, while the upper portion is decorated with a coat of arms supported by cherubs and a central banner reading De Stad Goes. Mattheus Smallegange was a Dutch historian, genealogist, and translator primarily remembered for his monumental contribution to the historiography of the Zeeland province.
