The engraving was published in Paris as part of the Atlas de toutes les parties connues du globe terrestre by Rigobert Bonne. Rigobert Bonne was a significant French cartographer of the Enlightenment who served as the Royal Cartographer to the French Hydrographic Office of the Navy. He was known for moving away from the decorative flourishes of the previous century in favor of scientific accuracy and clear, functional detail. His maps were highly regarded for their precision in coastal delineations and river systems. His extensive body of work became a standard for naval navigation and geographical study during the late 18th century.
