Bilder Johan Friedrich August Krueger (1743-1807) – Perca Zingel (Zingel asper) – Hand-coloured etching (1782)
Beskrivning
"Perca Zingel" provides a scientific depiction of the Zingel fish in profile and from a dorsal perspective, accompanied by a diagram of its scale structure. This hand-coloured etching originates from Marcus Elieser Bloch's monumental work Allgemeine Naturgeschichte der Fische, published in Berlin between 1782 and 1795. The plate is distinguished by the use of silver or gold leaf to replicate the iridescent quality of fish scales, a hallmark of this celebrated ichthyological series.
Johan Friedrich August Krueger was a German painter and engraver active in Berlin during the late eighteenth century. He served as one of the principal artists and engravers for Marcus Elieser Bloch, contributing numerous plates to the most comprehensive work on fishes produced during the Enlightenment.
