This topographical map provides a comprehensive view of the vast territories of the Ottoman Empire (Etats du Grand Seigneur), covering its dominions in Europe, Asia, and Africa. The map extends from Italy and Germany in the west to the Caspian Sea and Persia in the east, and includes the Mediterranean Sea, the Black Sea, and North Africa. The various regions and provinces are delineated with precise outline hand-coloring. The title is contained within an allegorical cartouche in the upper right corner.
Georges-Louis Le Rouge was a prominent French cartographer, engraver, and publisher who was active in Paris during the mid-18th century. He held the title of "Ingénieur Géographe du Roi" (Geographer to the King). He is best known for his numerous atlases, including the Atlas Nouveau Portatif, which contained a wide array of detailed maps.
