This topographical map depicts the island of St. Domingue (Hispaniola), showing its division into the French-controlled "Quartier Francois" and the Spanish-controlled "Quartier Espagnol." The map details the island's mountainous interior, river systems, and coastal towns, with colored outlines delineating the political boundary. The chart also includes several surrounding islands, such as the Caymans, the eastern tip of Cuba, and the Turks and Caicos. The title is presented in a simple cartouche in the upper right.

Georges-Louis Le Rouge was a prominent French cartographer, engraver, and publisher who was active in Paris during the mid-18th century. He held the title of "Ingénieur Géographe du Roi" (Geographer to the King). He is best known for his numerous atlases, including the Atlas Nouveau Portatif, which contained a wide array of detailed maps.
