Beskrivning

This topographical chart depicts the Indonesian island of Ambon (Carte Particuliere de l'Isle d'Amboine), part of the Moluccas or Spice Islands. The map illustrates the island's distinctive shape, showing its rugged terrain, dense vegetation, and coastal settlements. Navigational lines radiate from a central compass point. The title is framed within an elaborate, rococo cartouche in the upper right corner.

He served as the official hydrographer for the French Navy and was a member of the French Académie des Sciences.
